| How
to apply for an emission classification
Classification requires that the product has been tested
by an approved testing laboratory in accordance with the required methods.
Sample selection, analysis and measurements of material emissions must
be performed at a competent and impartial laboratory approved by the classification
working group.
Apply for an emission classification
After testing products shall an application be send to The Building Information
Foundation RTS. The Building Information Foundation RTS treats all documents
and information submitted by applicants in support of their application
in confidence. Applications for an emission classification for a building
material are submitted to the Building Information Foundation RTS on an
application form drawn up for this purpose.

The applicant is responsible for all the expenses arising
from the testing required for the application. The applicant pays the
costs of testing directly to the testing institute.
Product group forming before testing
If the products are so similar that emissions can be verified in one measurement
only shall the product groups be formed and agreed on with the classification
working group before testing.
Renewal of classification
The classification is granted for three years. If the composition and
method of manufacturing the product have not changed, the classification
can be renewed by application without testing provided that the required
testing methods and the criteria set for the products have not altered
fundamentally. Both new and continuation applications will always be examined
in accordance with the current requirements set for testing methods and
the criteria set for the products.
To the application shall be marked that it is for continuation.
If the classification is granted twice (3+3 years), the
product shall be tested and for the application shall be marked that it
is for Renewal.
Classification fee
The applicant shall pay the Building Information Foundation RTS a fee
for classification.
